The Artist Among Us – Fort Hudson Resident Featured For Her Artwork

Jackie holds up her artworkJackie laughs as others refer to her as “The Artist Among Us.” She states that when her husband was ill, she funneled her nervous energy into something. At her niece’s suggestion, that something was doodling. In her own words Jackie explains, “I just started developing characters, and I’d doodle on anything I had around – tissues, paper placemats, scrap paper. After my husband passed, I’ve found myself drawing even more. Staff and fellow residents ask if they can keep my doodles, and it becomes a joy to draw and share with my friends. It makes everyone smile.”

In early February Jackie was asked to participate in LeadingAge New York’s 2019 Art Competition and Exhibit. Pictured below is a sketch, with a few characters that she has developed – the images are based on her nursing team she works with daily.

LeadingAge will display the top 70 paintings at its Annual Conference & Exposition in May in Saratoga Springs. Good luck Jackie — no matter the outcome of the competition, you are a star to us at Fort Hudson!
