Fort Hudson wishes to recognize Kevin Baker, Fort Hudson’s Food Service Supervisor, and a member of the U.S. Army National Guard, 1156th En Co. Kevin is recognized for his service to help victims of hurricane sandy.
Kevin spent a total of 3 weeks downstate, assisting with important duties such as guarding trucks carrying food and water; distributing these items to residents in need; and helping to clear roadways of sand & debris to allow residents to return to their homes. Throughout his duration, Kevin worked the “night shift” of 12midnight to 8AM. His time was spent in Harlem NYC, the lower eastside ofManhattan, and Rockaway Queens. All of these areas were significantly damaged due to the hurricane. “I can not really put into words how much destruction there was.” Kevin said.
